Take Him by the Hand
By Marty Cooper
MATTHEW: 14:30,31a
30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to
sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" 31 And immediately Jesus stretched
out His hand and caught him
This scripture comes after the feeding of 5,000, Jesus sent the disciples ahead,
then walked on the water to them. Peter called to Him and said if it is really
Jesus say so then Peter would walk on the water to Him. Jesus called and Peter
climbed out of the boat and walked toward Jesus. BUT, the critical part was
ahead. As long as Peter focused on Jesus he was safe, but when he looked at His
surroundings, the Bible says, "he was afraid". Peter cried out for Jesus to save
him, and Jesus "immediately" reached out a caught Peter.
Jesus is just waiting for you. Whenever you need him, all you have to do is call
for Him and He is there, reaching out His hand to pull you from the storm. We
all face these waves sometime in our lives, no matter our walk with the Lord. It
is important to remember to call on Jesus quickly. Don’t wait until you are
underwater and trying not to drown. Call when you see the water starting to
rise. There is no need to suffer, prolonging issues that can be overcome by, and
with, the LORD!
The Bible tells us, too, that we must have faith as that of a child. Think about
your child, when you are going somewhere that may not be safe. What do you do?
You reach out and take their hand, walking them safely to the destination. God
wants you to take Him by the hand so he can lead you along the dangerous
highways of life that lay ahead. He wants to walk you across that busy street of
work, where your load seems more than you can bear. He is wanting to pull you
from waves of depression that seem to continually crash against you, beating you
back down every time you seem to be getting better.
Call on Jesus, but then you have to reach out and take His hand. I see Him
standing in heaven, a smile on His face because you are admitting you need Him,
reaching out for your hand. Our burden may seem heavy to us, our yoke
unbearable, He says to cast those on Him and take up His, for His burden is
light and His yoke is easy( MATTHEW 11:30).
Believe without doubt that He is who He says He is and will do what He says He
will do! |
