“And this gospel of the Kingdom
shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all
nations…” Matt. 24:14
Singing together is a
pleasure for this group of friends who started out singing
at their home church in Portland, Tenn., in 1996. It didn’t
take long, however, to realize that they had something
special – a mutual desire to share the message of Jesus
Christ and a love for singing. In fact, their love for
singing was so great, it didn't matter whether or not they
had an audience, just as long as they got to sing.
Group
member Krista Wright was reading her Bible and Matthew 24:14
jumped out at her like a beacon. “…for a witness unto all
nations… .” She knew immediately that Witness would be the
name for this fledgling group that would commit themselves
to follow God’s leading.
Now,
looking back, Krista and her fellow group members – Betty
Sircy and Robin White – realized that God has led them from
appearances at the smallest of churches to ministering to
large crowds, appearing on television, and hearing their
songs on the radio. The group’s first CD, Bringing Back
the King, has been a success and has opened many new
doors of opportunity. Their sophomore project, Turn Your
Faith On, reminds listeners that with just a tiny bit of
faith on our part, God will provide beyond our ability to
imagine.
As a
group, Witness is committed to doing exactly what the name
implies – be a witness of the God they serve to everyone
whose lives they touch. Every opportunity to present the
Gospel is utilized through the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Witness
is a long-time supporter of The Helping Hands Organization
and of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life with
time, effort and equipment. Recently the group has assisted
in the ministry of Freedom House Foundation, a local
faith-based domestic violence shelter for battered women and
children.
